Commercial Unit Reflection

Ad Reflection

What worked well on your commercial?

What I believe that worked well was the song we picked, I think that it matched the message conveyed on our commercial, also I liked how the song picked up when the students came to help pick up the trash on the floor. I also liked the the camera angles the scenes were filmed, specially the beginning where we show trash on the floor, a strong beginning and then we close up on the janitors face so the audience sees that actually someone is working extra hours to keep our campus clean.

What still needs improvement?

In our commercial there were some things that we could have done to improve our commercial. One of those things was the spelling, in the text showed in the commercial we could see that some words were misspelled. Also we could have improved the fadeaway of the song, maybe end up with a different part of the song or start fading away so the end the song does not disappear all of the sudden.

What will you do different to improve the commercial?

We will make sure that all of the spelling is correct, also we will maybe take more pictures of trash on the floor to make the commercial be a bit longer because 5 sec after there is a pause on the song that we can use to end the video.

Group Reflection

Who worked m-the most in our group?

In the discussion we had the conclusion that I worked a bit more in the group, this was not because my group did not want to work it was because we chose each members qualiteis and let them do what they do best and the editing part was a bit longer than the rationale.

Who had the best attitude?

I believe that we all had a good attitude. There was no one that did not want to participate and all of us were exited to work

Who was the hardest to work with?

In our group the member that was harder to work with was Lucia, this was due that she was absent several days in this unit.

Self Reflection

What did you learn?

I learned about the film angles in order to catch the audience attention. I also learned techniques to make a commercial or a film more interesting and apealing.

What did you feel you did not learn enough?

I actually felt that in this unit we learned a bit about everything. We read and improved our vocab, we learned about film-making techniques we also learned about punctuation. I believe that in this unit we tough ourself several things.

What is one of your weaknesses collaborating with others?

A weakness that I have collaborating with others is that I usually try to do the part that I am assigned to by my self. Even though I try to accept comments and ideas I am a person that is very hard to convince.
What did you contribute with?

In this project I did the part of the filming, actually all of the group helped filming, what I did on my own was the editing. I edited all of the video

Final Book Discussion

Today in class we finished to read Tuesday With Morrie, well actually we read it at home and then discuss it in class. We talked how destiny is such an interesting thing, and that all things affect each other at one point. When the company where Mitch worked in went on strike it gave Mitch more free time; this happened in the same time when Morrie got sick and was told that he was going to die. As Mitch had more free time he was able to spend more time with Morrie who at the end tough him a very important life-long lesson.

After discussing this topic in class we talked about how were we going to film our commercials. We decided that in order to make a strong well-delivered message it was going to be better if we moved away from the comical take of our commercial and do a impacting sentimental commercial with strong images. We also discussed how we were going to alternate shots while filming scenes of the janitor to make the commercial look more professional. As well our group decided that it was going to be an important tool to keep our audience interested in our commercial. The last subject we touched today the start of the commercial. As we saw in many commercials seen in class a good way to start the commercial is to show an impacting or strong HD scene. We decided to start the commercial with a shot of a green are full of trash, representing how the students like to be in the green areas but do not take care of them throwing their trash on it.
